Gerald M Weatherford

Gerald M. Weatherford, 80, long-time Maury County automobile dealer and retired affiliate broker with Progressive Realty & Associates, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Calvin Lunn and Rev. David McGregor officiating. Burial will be in McCains Cemetery. Weatherford, Sr. and Effie Virginia Dugger Weatherford. Mr. Weatherford and his father were partners in a Grade A dairy operation for many years, as well as automobile dealers in Maury County. In addition, he and his son have together operated commercial beef cattle operations on the Campbellsville Pike and Bear Creek Pike for almost a quarter of a century. He was a member of the Maury County Cattlemen's Association and Maury County Association of Realtors. A life-long member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Mr. Weatherford served as an Elder of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, being the third generation of his family to hold this position. For over 30 years, he and his wife served as Church Treasurers, retiring in 2000. Mr. Weatherford recently attained two long-time personal goals; reaching his 80th birthday on March 27 and celebrating his 60th Wedding Anniversary on April 4, 2008. Surviving are his wife, Robbie Johnson Weatherford; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ann Weatherford; a brother-in-law, Harold (Era Dell) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Mildred Johnson and Ruth Weatherford.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Blanche Weatherford and Sara Ella "Sadie" Williams and a brother, Odie E. Weatherford, Jr. Active pallbearera are Richard Callahan, John Boyd Cothron, Billy Fitzgerald, Larry Goats, Bill Hull, A. C. Howell, Don Howell, Gene Howell, Donald Kincaid, M. T. Potts, Jack Weatherford, Joe Poag, David Wise, and Judge James Weatherford. Matthews, William Pulley, Bobby Wells, Associates of Progressive Realty, Kathy's Family Restaurant employees and patrons, Dr. Gaylon Harris, Dr. Amit Choksi, and staffs of Columbia Oncology and M. D. Associates.
