Mrs. Gladys Elizabeth Tyler Belew, 94, widow of William Elmer Belew and former resident of Woodmont Drive, died Monday, January 7, 2008 in Savannah. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born and reared in the Culleoka Community, she was the daughter of the late James Amos Tyler and Laura Ellen Austin Tyler and graduated from Culleoka High School. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Larry (Jackie) Belew of Hohenwald; three granddaughters, Kristie Belew Hedges of Clarksville, Beth Belew Britton of Clarksville, and Tonya Pierce of Hohenwald; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma Ingrum, a sister, Eula Whitehurst; a brother, James Tyler, and a grandson, David Ingrum. Pallbearers are Wayne Brunson, Randy Stanfill, Jerry Tyler, Jack Craig, Johnny Lightfoot, Jr., and Eddie Ferguson.
