Gladys Attkisson Witherspoon

Mrs. Gladys Attkisson Witherspoon, 73, retired cashier at Stan?s Restaurant, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 11:00 - 12:00 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with burial to follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late U. B. Attkisson, Sr. and Violet Tyler Attkisson. She was married to Johnnie Witherspoon who preceded her in death on November 15, 1990. Survivors include four sisters, Margaret McCormick, Eleanor England, and Faye Attkisson, all of Columbia; and Dorothy (William) Hardison of Giles County; one brother, Charles Attkisson of Illinois; two stepdaughters, Linda(Mike) Mabry of Ccolumbia and Lois Moreno of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her nephews.
