Mr. Glenn Harwell Stevenson, 88, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at his residence on the Nashville Highway. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Smith and Dr. Bill Thrasher officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. The Giles County native was the son of the late Nathaniel Stevenson and Ellia Harwell Stevenson. In 1943 he married Tommie Lawrance Higgins Stevenson who preceded him in death January 25, 1981. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and retired from Columbia Power & Water System. Mr. Stevenson was owner/operator of S & H Honey Farm. He served in the United States Army in the 181 Artillery during World War II and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. He was a member of Glendale United Methodist Church. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Winifred Hardison of Columbia; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and lifetime employee, James Wilkes. Pallbearers will be Jack Craig, Jimmy Brown, Kile Patrick, Jerry Turner, Jimmy Walters, Larry Turner, Don Galbreath, James Wilkes, Jason Dodson, Don Richardson and Paul Thrasher. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Columbia Power & Water Systems, Bobby Compton, Wendell Cheek, Ray Wright, Steve Compton, Earl Rhodes, Dr. C.D.George, Bill Dodson, Jack Lovett, Bill Crowder, Bud Hurt and Ray Woods.
