View Funeral WebcastMrs. Gloria Matthews Fogle, 80, retired school teacher and resident of Skelley Lane, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Barnwell County, South Carolina native was the daughter of the late Bud Cade Matthews and Susan Pauline Pearson Matthews. She was a graduate of Williston Elko High School in South Carolina and earned her Bachelors degree at the University of South Carolina and her Masters degree at Belmont University in Nashville. On May 26, 1949 she married Ellis H Fogle who preceded her in death March 28, 2002. Mrs. Fogle was a member of the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the Maury County Retired Teacher's Association. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Terry (Sharon) Fogle of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Danny (Debbie) Fogle of Columbia; brother, Jack (Mary) Matthews of Monks Corner, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jason (Tanya) Fogle, Michael Fogle, Kevin Fogle, Matthew (Cheryl) Fogle; one great-granddaughter, Alex Fogle; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Lee Fogle in 2006, half-sister, Audrey Cade Blanton, brother, Bud Cade Matthews, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kristine Fogle. Pallbearers will be Jason Fogle, Michael Fogle, Kevin Fogle, Matthew Fogle, Frank Lindsey and Perry Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Yeager, Rev. James and Betty Prewitt, Chris Walls, Lois Lindsey, Vance and Dot Potts, Georgia McCaleb, Naomi Kelley, past and present members of Hardison's Mill Campground and members of the Hospital Auxiliary.
