View Funeral WebcastGloria Woody Vaughn, 85, resident of Rockland Drive, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 27, 2017 at NHC Maury Regional. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dawson, Pastor Rick Blevins, and Mrs. Vaughn's grandson, Davy Kincaid, officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to First Family Baptist Church, 2790 Pulaski Highway, Columbia, TN 38401; Agathos Classical School, 1201 Mapleash Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401; or Young Life of Columbia, P.O. Born September 20, 1931, in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late James Everette Woody and Lottie Ann Sowell Woody. On November 5, 1949, she married Douglas Houston Vaughn, Sr. who preceded her in death December 12, 2016. For many years, she worked at Parks Belk as a buyer, before owning and operating Gloria's Magic Mirror. An excellent seamstress, she made clothes for her grandchildren and handmade dolls. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and teaching children how to sew. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of First Family Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over forty years and was the costume and banner designer for the music ministry. Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Gilbreath of Columbia; Pam (Allen) Kincaid of Tanner, AL; sons, D. Houston (Sherry) Vaughn, Jr. of Brentwood; Michael Woody (Sharon) Vaughn, Sr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Andrew Gilbreath, Anna Kaye Gilbreath, Brian (Keri) Kincaid, Jamie (Dennis) Smith, Curt (Margaret) Kincaid, Davy (Mallory) Kincaid, Phillip Vaughn, Lt. Emily (Darren) Gretchko, US Navy, Lt. Michael Woody (Sarah) Vaughn, Jr., US Navy; great grandchildren, Brannon Kincaid, Landon Kincaid, Elyssa Kincaid, Cody Smith, Luke Smith, Alyvia Kincaid, Auston Kincaid, Aubrey Kincaid, Vivian Kincaid, Everett Vaughn; brother-in-law, James Hoil Walker; several nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Clinton Gilbreath; and sister, Nancy Walker. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Gilbreath, Brian Kincaid, Curt Kincaid, Davy Kincaid, Phillip Vaughn, Michael Woody Vaughn, Jr., Cliff Walker, and Joey Scruggs. Honorary pallbearers include Riley Sloan, Columbus Johnson, Jimmy Cranford, and First Family Baptist Church Children's Ministry.The family would like to express a special thanks to Kathey Miller, Pam Johnson, Linda Cooper, Stella Runions, Debbie Whitwell, Helen Hardison, Dr. Gaylon Harris and staff, and the staff of NHC Maury Regional.
