View Funeral Webcast View Video Tribute Grayson Carol Mabry, 55, retired counselor for J.E. Woodard Elementary, died Saturday, March 11, 2023 in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Dawson and Mrs. Carol Ann Jent officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born December 11, 1967 in Maury County, she was the daughter of Gayle Cothran Mabry and the late Kenneth Carlton Mabry. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree as a Guidance Counselor from Middle Tennessee State University. For 25 years, she poured her heart and soul into her work, spent countless hours loving all of her students and co-workers. In 2020, Ms. Mabry was named J.E. Woodard Elementary Teacher of the Year sponsored by Tristar Bank. Over the years, she battled cancer with grace and dignity always having a positive attitude and putting everyone before herself. Ms. Mabry was the true example of kindness and love. She was an avid animal lover, especially cats. She enjoyed traveling and had visited France, Italy, and Greece. Ms. Mabry was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to her mother, Gayle Cothran Mabry of Columbia, survivors include her brother, Todd Mabry of Columbia; and nephew, Zach Mabry of Culleoka. Active pallbearers will be Zach Mabry, Jonathan Knox, Douglas Woody, Wesley Prater, L.G. White, Dan Nixon, Jim Moore, and Randy Harness. Honorary pallbearers include Frank Woody, Brad Watkins, John Osborne, and former and present faculty and staff of J.E. Woodard Elementary.
