Gregory Collier McMinnis

June 30, 1966 — September 19, 2021

Mr. Gregory Collier McMinnis, 55, a resident of Creek Trail died Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service for Mr. McMinnis will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Kane officiating. Military honors will provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 30, 1966, he was the son of the late John McMinnis and the Eleanor Payne McMinnis. He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1984 and served four years in the United States Navy on board the USS Eisenhower. On December 30, 2017 he married Michelle Pickle McMinnis. He was employed by Tennessee Farm Bureau in the IT Department. Mr. McMinnis loved Harley Davidson’s and earlier in life enjoyed hunting. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, John F. (Emilie Anne) McMinnis of Clarksville, Tennessee; step-sons, Damian S. Adair and Dakota S. Adair (Destiny Laws) both of Columbia; grandchildren, Carson S. Adair and Bryson T. Adair both of Spring City, Tennessee and Marleigh J. Adair of Columbia, Benjamin Irvin and Alessa Irvin both of Clarksville, Tennessee; brother, Dale McMinnis of Mt. Pleasant; niece, Elainia McMinnis of Mt. Pleasant; nephews, Jesse Noah McMinnis of Lacey Springs, Alabama and Malachi McMinnis of Mt. Pleasant; childhood best friend, Tracy Jones of Columbia. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Baker, Tim Dugger, Chris Potts, Jason Wells, Tim Seaton, Tracy Jones, Ted Potts, Jeff Baker, Steve Primm, and employees of Tennessee Farm Bureau. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
