Grover C Hammond

Mr. Grover C. Hammond, 79, retired from Union Carbide Corp., died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at NHC Hillview Nursing Facility in Columbia, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Highland Church of Christ in Columbia. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 497 E. James M. The Maury County, TN native was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Hammond and Emma Rebecca Notgrass Hammond. He was a member and served as an elder of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Imogene Harris Hammond of Columbia; one daughter, Jane (Bobby) Boshers of Columbia; three sons, George E. (Ann) Hammond of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, Owen L. (Judy) Hammond of Collierville, TN, John R. (Judy) Hammond of Nolensville, TN; a brother, George W. Hammond of Moody, Alabama; a nephew, Christopher Hammond; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Christopher Isaiah Boshers in 2002. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jeremy Boshers, Chris Boshers, Kyle Boshers, Brady Hammond, Jason Hammond, Justin Hammond and Jacob Hammond.
