Mr. James Hardin McKelvey, 92, retired district manager for Dixie-Portland Flour Mill in Chattanooga and resident of Debus Street in Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, September 3, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Jesse Lehman McKelvey and Sarah Elizabeth Parrish McKelvey. He resided in Spring Hill for a number of years, moving to Lawrenceburg to make his home in 1951. Mr. McKelvey was active in Masonic affairs for a number of years, serving in numerous positions and held both York and Scottish Rite degrees. He also was a member of the Church of Christ and Sons of the American Revolution. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Inez Smith McKelvey of Lawrenceburg; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Theo Jones of Lawrenceburg; grandsons, Randy (Gina) Jones of Lawrenceburg and Mike Jones of Smyrna; great-grandchildren, Cassie Jones and Cori Jones of Lawrenceburg; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tim Jones. Active pallbearers are Randy Jones, Mike Jones, Edward Crafton and Jim Sullivan.
