Harold Wayne Brunson, Sr., 67, retired conductor with CSX Railroad and resident of Rock Springs Road, died Friday, July 1, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Harold "Peck" Brunson and the late Allie Marcella Belew Brunson. On July 10, 1970, he married Wilma Jean Jett Brunson, who preceded him in death July 19, 1997. Mr. Brunson was a 1967 graduate of Columbia Central High School. After retirement from his twenty-nine year career with CSX, he was employed as a truck driver for Keith Farms in Hardison Mills Community for several years. He enjoyed drag racing and motorbike riding; but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. Survivors include his son, Harold Wayne (Katrina) Brunson, Jr. of Columbia; sister, Diane Brunson of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Jeannie Lynn Brunson and Ally Kathryn Brunson, both of Columbia; great grandchild, Kaileigh Hope Baker of Columbia; companion and caregiver, Joan Leonard of Columbia; and uncle, Jack Brunson of Columbia. Active pallbearers will be Edgar Chumley, Richie Keith, Wes Lyons, Scott Turner, Chad Keith, and John Moses. Honorary pallbearers will include retired CSX employees, employees of Keith Farms, Terry Church, and Jeff Wells.
