Harold Floyd Holt, 79, resident of Mockingbird Drive, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at NHC Maury Regional. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Turner and Pastor Robert Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 5, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of the late Jimmy Holt and the late Susie Dale Holt. He was a 1957 graduate of Hay Long High School and proudly served seven years in the U. S. Air Force achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Holt retired as Plant Manager of Columbia Plastics after twenty-five years' service. After retirement, he was employed at Nelson Tube of Tennessee; and later formed his own auto parts expediting company, Holt Express. He enjoyed fishing and planting a big vegetable garden in his back yard. His son and grandchildren were the joy of his life; and he spent many years watching them play baseball. Mr. Holt was a member of Edge Church of God and will be remembered as a good Christian man who loved his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of many years, Mary Louise Minor Holt of Columbia; son, Brent (Kimberly Karen) Holt of Columbia; grandchildren, Hayden Holt and Spencer Holt, both of Columbia; sisters, Martha Jean Love of Columbia and Betty "Sister" Cockrell of Lawrenceburg; brothers, J. C. (Mary Lou) Holt of Mt. Pleasant and Jimmy Holt of Columbia; brother-in-law, Billy Fagan of Lewisburg; and sister-in-law, Patsy Holt of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruby Andrews, Nita Thomason, Doris Grimes, Nellie Fagan, and Gary Holt. Active pallbearers will be Bill Love, Tim Holt, J. C. Holt, Jr., Randy Thomason, Larry Nance, Brent Cockrell, and Randy Sharp. Honorary pallbearers will be Sandra & Jerry Bolton, Connie & Clay McMeen, Deb & Steve Patterson, Sue Sharp, Andy McMeen, Dr. Thomas Dake, Dr. Charles Ball, and members of Edge Church of God.
