Mr. Harold T. Ledbetter Mr. Harold Thomas Ledbetter, 70, well-known Columbia businessman associated with Victory Van Lines for many years and a resident of Country Club Lane, died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at his residence on Country Club Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Smith, Father Patrick Conner officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors at the graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and VFW Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital, Hospice of Highland Rim or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Ernest Joyce Ledbetter and Lillie Powell Ledbetter and was a 1950 graduate of Columbia Central High School. He served in the U. S. Air Force in Korea and was a member and past Commander of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #10. Active in civic and community affairs for many years, he was a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #32, Maury County Shrine Club, Columbia Noon Rotary Club and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Ledbetter was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, United Methodist Men, and was active for a number of years with the Brown School PTO.Survivors include his wife, Clara Durand Ledbetter of Columbia; a daughter, Deborah Lynn (Mike) Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; a son, Harold Durand (Michelle) Ledbetter of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren, Maggie Smith, Claire Smith, Grace Ledbetter and Kaitlan Ledbetter; a sister, Mae Ledbetter Duncan of Coumbia; a brother, Paul (Gayle) Ledbetter of Gatlinburg; several nieces and nephews.Active pallbearers are Ernest Allen, George Brazelton, Joe Gibson, Rex Hadley, Jim Sherrod, Charles Whitten, Tony Bastone, Jr. and Tony Wolfe.Honorary pallbearers include members of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19, Maury County Shrine Club, Fellowship Class and United Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church, former employees of Victory Van Lines, Inc. and Charles C. Eaton.
