Mr. Harold Robert Whitley, Sr., 78, farmer and resident of Campbellsville Pike, died Monday, October 17, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4- 8p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late James Whitley and Agnes Campfield Whitley. On November 4, 1949 he married Grace Chumley Whitley of Columbia who survives him. He was an employee of the Maury County Tobacco Warehouse. Mr. Whitley was a sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. Survivors in addition to his wife are one daughter, Patricia (Robert) Wakefield of Columbia; two sons, Richard (Debbie) Whitley, Robert (Donna) Whitley both of Culleoka; one sister Judy (Larry) Johnson of Santa Fe; one brother, Eugene (Ann) Whitley of Columbia; four grandchildren, Keith Whitley, Sommar Whitley, Lindsey Wakefield, Lauren Wakefield; and one great-grandchild, Codie Whitley. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Whitley, Jr. and twin sisters, Jean Pagel and Jane Arnold. Pallbearers will be Keith Whitley, Alan Chumley, Edgar Chumley, Edwin Chumley, John Boyd Cothran, Jim Boshears, Allen Ring and David Ring. Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Maury County Tobacco Warehouse.
