Mr. Harry D. Paulk, 94, resident of General Roberts Drive, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. David McGregor officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Savannah Cemetery in Hardin County. The Hardin County native was the son of the late Laura and John Paulk. He was a long-time member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia. His working career began with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Mr. Paulk began his work with the Tennessee Valley Authority at Pickwick Dam in 1937. He worked at various projects over the years including New Johnsonville Steam Plant, John Sevier Steam Plant, Widow's Creek Steam Plant, the Beech River Project in Lexington, where he was general construction superintendent, Land Between the Lakes and lastly, the Normandy and Columbia Dam Projects, where he was assistant superintendent. He retired in 1975 after 37 years of service. His wife of 59 years, Mamie Payne Paulk, preceded him in death in 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Paulk Mobley of Columbia; two sons, Richard (Marsha) Paulk of Columbia and John (Charlotte) Paulk of Lexington; four grandchildren, Jason Paulk, Jay Mobley, Jeremiah Mobley, and Laura Mobley; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and caretaker, Marcella Brunson. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Paulk in 1990. Pallbearers are Jason Paulk, Jay Mobley, Jeremiah, Mobley, Harry Allen Paulk, Bob Heath, G. W. Miller, Clyde Yeager, and Kevin Paulk.
