Harvey Sherman Burkins, Jr.

Harvey Sherman Burkins, Jr., 71, retired millwright for General Motors, and resident of Columbia, died Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Vann officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Born July 5, 1952, in Chester, Pennsylvania, to the late Harvey Sherman Burkins, Sr. and the late Frances Bethard Burkins. Mr. Burkins worked for General Motors for forty-four years, where he was known as “Hollering Harv”.  His Greatest joy in life was spoiling his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife whom he married February 17, 1973, Alice “Ricci” Grace Breese Burkins; daughters, Stacey (Jeremy) Lampley, and Cherie (Trent) Wray; grandchildren, Alicia (Brandon) Westfall, Jaime Silva II  (Tara Henson), Christian Lampley, Madeline Lampley, Peyton ( Christina) Wray, Haley (Devin) Shwartz, and Challi Wray; great grandchildren, Hudson Westfall, Charlie Westfall, Magnolia Wray, and Poppy Wray; sister, Rosalie (Bill) Bates; and niece, Rose (Michael) Pirillo.

Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
