View Funeral WebcastMrs. Hazel Marie McCandless Montgomery, 74, resident of Leipers Creek Road, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late James William McCandless and Mary Alice Griggs McCandless. She was a 1951 graduate of Santa Fe High School and was retired Vice President of Operations at Educators Credit Union/Cornerstone Financial where she had been employed for 36 years. She also owned and operated Creekview Farms Bed and Breakfast on Leipers Creek Road. Mrs. Montgomery was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Ronald Montgomery of Santa Fe; sons, Michael B. (Gloria) Montgomery of Franklin, Charles Allen Montgomery of Bon Aqua; daughters, Gwendolyn (Russell) Creager, Cheryl Jean (Steve) Stewart both of Nashville; sister, Dorothy Jean Hubbell of Columbia; brother, Wesley (Mary Frances) McCandless of Santa Fe; ten grandchildren, Michael Ray (Misty) Montgomery, Rebecca (Amos) Thompson, Mark (Teri) Montgomery, Jake Creager, Jessica (Russell) Hartline, Geoffrey Stewart, David Nickens, Stephen Michael Montgomery, Chelsea Hinegardner, Taylor Montgomery; nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Heather and Wesley Thompson, Emma, Abby and Haley Montgomery, Matthew and Olivia Nickens, and Braiden Hinegardner. She was preceded in death by two brothers Ernest Lloyd McCandless, William Carl McCandless and Mary Jane McCandless. Pallbearers will be Marion Hill, Keith Potts, Wilford Potts, Robert Lewis Houser, Bobby Houser and Matthew Houser. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Cornerstone Financial.
