Mrs. Hazel Smoot Norman, 88, retired employee of Tennessee Department of Employment Security in Nashville and resident of Sheddan Drive, died Thursday, January 20, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Manchester City Cemetery with Benny Benjamin officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Norman who preceded her in death on May 13, 1980. Mrs. Norman was a 1936 graduate of Central High School in Manchester and attended Business College in Tullahoma. She was a member of Northview Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, James Kenneth "Jim" Clark of Columbia; one niece, Page Hammond of Salisbury, Maryland; one sister-in-law, Jane Smoot of Tullahoma; two great nieces, Elizabeth Pyle and Dr. Sarah Hammond, both of Boston, Massachusetts; one great nephew, Edward Hammond, III of Austin, Texas; one great great niece; two great great nephews; several cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Smoot and one nephew, Stephen Smoot.
