Mrs. Helen Snedegar Barkalow, 69, clerk at Jack Cecil's Grocery in the Cross Bridges Community and resident of Caldwell Drive, died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in the Cross Bridges Community. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Oakes & Nichols with Rock Jaggers officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Sherman Snedegar and Gertrude Richardson Snedegar Simmons. She was married to James R. Barkalow, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Barkalow had worked as manager with Kwik-Sak prior to her employment with Jack Cecil Grocery. She was a member of Hampshire United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Jody (Kenny) Cecil of Cross Bridges; two granddaughters, Danielle Cecil of Cross Bridges; Kelly (Jon) Thomas of Columbia; one grandson, Justin Cecil of Cross Bridges; one great granddaughter, Brooke Thomas of Columbia; three sisters, Katherine Rindahl of Lancaster, Texas; Ellie (Bob) Smith of Michigan; Patricia Counts of Columbia; one brother, Douglas (Donna) Snedegar of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, James R. (Buddy) Barkalow, Jr., and one brother, Robert Snedegar. Pallbearers will be Tom Tarkington, Doug Wright, Steve Secrest, Bobby Allen, Marvin Edwards, and Jimmy Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Cecil, Allen Osborne, Gordon Travis, Bobby Cecil, Terrence Mayes, Seth Gilmore, James Armstrong, Tommy Smith, Bill Robinette, Charlie Mayberry, Randall Odom, Albert Lentz, men of Hampshire United Methodist Church and former employees of Kwik-Sak.
