Helen Rebecca Derryberry Carroll

Mrs. Helen Rebecca Greenway Carroll, 83, resident of Columbia, TN, died Friday, March 23, 2018 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Dennis Smith and Sharon Vaughn officiating. Helen will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery following the funeral. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, March 25th from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Monday, March 26th from 12:00 noon until time of the services at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Helen Rebecca Greenway Carroll was born on April 13, 1934 in Williamson County. She was the daughter of the late George M. Derryberry and Ruth Anna Tomlin Derryberry. On April 7, 1951, she married Jessie Rogers Greenway who preceded her in death on June 9, 1970. Helen remarried on March 26, 1973 to Ben Carroll, Jr. who also preceded her in death on January 26, 1999. Helen loved her children, was an excellent cook, and was one of the strongest women you would ever meet! She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters Kathy Russell (Billy Buford) and Wanda Kay Mitchell; son, Terry (Wanda Sue) Greenway all of Columbia; step-children Dottie (Wayne) Malugin of Lewisburg, David Carroll, and Steve Carroll of Columbia; sister Lois Westmoreland and brother Don Derryberry of Columbia, grandchildren Roger Russell, Leslie Mitchell, Stacey Greenway, Nicole Thomas, Troy Mitchell, Amanda Pierce; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Thanks to her sweet friend and neighbor Bonnie Mosley for being there for her. She was preceded in death by sisters, Libby Tate and Mary Davidson; brother J.C. Derryberry; step-son Jeff Carroll. Roger Russell, Stacey Greenway, Troy Mitchell, Larry Russell, Billy Sudduth, and Jeff Derryberry will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Buford, Mike Thomas, Chad Pierce, Richard Peach, Doug Williamson, and her nephews.
