Helen Joy Norman Duncan, 87, retired employee of General Electric and resident of Sunnymeade Drive in Jackson, died Friday, October 12, 2018 in Jackson, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Senior Pastor at West Jackson Baptist Church, Ron Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. She was the 13th of 14 children born to the late Frank Norman and the late Lucinda Pruitt Norman. On September 6, 1949, she married Jack Duncan who preceded her in death May 2, 2011. She attended Columbia Central High School and later received her GED. She was a graduate from Maury County Beauty School where she received her license and opened her own beauty shop for many years. Later she worked for General Electric for over 20 years. After retiring, Mrs. Duncan moved to the Tennessee River for several years, and in 1998, she and her husband moved to Jackson to live with her daughter and family. She was a member of West Jackson Baptist Church and The Legacy Sunday School Class. Survivors include her daughter, Jackie (Wayne) Logue; son, Terry (Pam) Duncan; grandchildren, Nick Logue; Adam (Sarah) Duncan; Taryn (Tim) Hickey; great grandchildren, Collins Hickey; Duncan Hickey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 13 siblings. Active pallbearers will be Adam Duncan, Tim Hickey, David Logue, and Jimmy Duvall. Honorary pallbearers include Judge James D. Todd, Dr. David Larsen, Dr. Eric Homberg, Dr. Mark Miller, Ray Smith, Harrell Phillips, and members of The Legacy Sunday School Class at West Jackson Baptist Church.
