Helen Connelly Lynn, retired medical assistant, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at her residence on Confederate Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Highland Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Proctor and Rev. Wilson Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late W. O'Neal Connelly and the late Maggie Jones Connelly. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia State Community College, where she trained in Medical Assistant Programs. She was retired from Drs. Mayfield, Ferrell, Olson and Moore, Pathologists Laboratory, after twenty-four years of service. Mrs. Lynn had previously worked as a substitute teacher in Maury County Schools. She had been a member of Highland Park Baptist Church since 1961 where she served on numerous committees and enjoyed volunteering in the church office after her retirement. She was a member and past president of Tennessee Medical Assistants. Survivors include her husband of seventy years, John Leonard Lynn of Columbia; sons, Mike (Marcia) Lynn of Rockwall, Texas; Jeff (Susie) Lynn of Huntsville, Alabama; Darrell (Kim) Lynn of Leipers Fork; Alan (Suzanne) Lynn of Columbia; brother, Hubert Connelly of Columbia; sister-in-law, Vivian Connelly; grandchildren, Aimee (David) Pratt of Rockwall, TX; Christie (Barry) Carpenter of Hughesville, Maryland; Cara Lynn (Ty Cobb) of Columbia; Katie Lynn of Columbia; John D. Lynn, Jr. of Spring Hill; Jacob Lynn and Claudia Lynn, both of Huntsville, Alabama; step grandchildren, Kelly Weschler and Nicole Peters; seven great grandchildren, Taylor Hardy, Brett Carpenter, Cole Carpenter, Ian Carpenter, Ryan Everett, Mady Everett, Elliott Hickerson; step-great grandchildren, Gabriel Weschler, Will Prater, Madeline Prater, Julia Robison; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Vance Connelly, James Connelly, and Ray Connelly.
