MRS. HELEN BYRD NORMAN Mrs. Helen Byrd Norman, 80, widow of Robert Lee "Bob" Norman and resident of Sunset Drive, died Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Mike Williams and Rev. Donald Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday and Saturday after 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Mt. Pleasant native was the daughter of the late Leonard W. Byrd and Minnie Wiseman Byrd. She was a homemaker and graduate of Haylong High School. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jayne (Mack) Parson and Mrs. Shirley (Wayne) Phillips both of Columbia; one son, Robert L. "Bobby" (Alma) Norman, Jr., of Water Valley; one brother, L.W. (Sue) Byrd of Columbia; two nieces, Nancy Scott and Reba Thomas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Byrd Copeland, Mary Elizabeth Byrd Copeland and Virginia Byrd Eddlemon. Pallbearers will be Barry Crotzer, Carlton Scott, Monte Norman, Lee Norman, Pete Ridley, Johnny Pressnell and Mike Thomas.
