View Funeral WebcastMrs. Helen Baker Perry, 89 resident of Campbellsville Pike for many years, died Sunday at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Thomas Vann and Rev. David Bradley officiating. Burial will be follow in Matthews Cemetery. Born and reared in the Santa Fe Community of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Sam Houston Baker and Rosa Beard Baker and a 1937 graduate of Santa Fe High School. In 1941 she went to work as an operator for South Central Bell Telephone Company in Columbia. With 38 years of service in various positions, she retired in 1979 as assistant manager of operator services. On November 10, 1950, she married Alvin Simpson Perry, farmer and life-long resident of the Bigbyville Community. Their marriage spanned 54 years until his death November 1, 2004. Mrs. Perry was a long-time member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include a son, Glenn Perry of Columbia; brother, Carl H. (Alberta) Baker, Sr. of Williamsport; sister-in-law, Hazel Pigg of Santa Fe; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Alice Baker Lane, Eunice Baker Hahn, and Elsie Baker Taylor; and brothers, B. Ray Baker and William Clyde Baker. Active pallbearers are Eddie Hahn, Jeffrey Hahn, David Taylor, Clinton Gilbreath, John M. Abernathy, Dr. Sidney A. Berry, III, and Thomas Reischman. The Fellowship Sunday School Class at Craft Memorial United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
