Helen Hope Smith

Mrs. Helen Hope Ludkey Smith, 88, homemaker and resident of Rosewood Drive, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at the home of her daughter. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint, Michigan. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. A native of Oxnard, California, she was the daughter of the late Emil John Ludkey and Meta Martha Tamka Ludkey. On May 7, 1942, she married Walton Emery Smith who preceded her in death on February 5, 1985. Mrs. Smith was a member of Friends in Fellowship and The Newcomers to whom her family is very grateful for their love and support to Helen during the past fifteen years. Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne and her husband John Davison of Columbia; two sons, Ernest Walton Smith of Clio, Michigan; Kirk Dean Smith and his fiancée, Rachelé, of Columbiaville, Michigan; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Ludtke and Norman Emil Ludkey.
