MRS. HELEN THURMAN Mrs. Helen Owens Thurman, 95, resident of the Southport Community, died Thursday, December 5, 2002, at Rosewood Manor. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Hardison and Ron Eversole officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Highland Church of Christ Building Fund and Central Christian Church Building Fund. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late W.H. Owens and Mary Lou Angus Owens. She was married to Amon Hubbell Thurman who preceded her in death December 5, 1980. She was a graduate of Campbellsville High School, attended Middle Tennessee State University and taught school at Giles County Schools for several years. She was a member of Bethel Church of Christ in the Southport Community. Survivors include two sons, J.O. (Faye) Thurman of Columbia, Bobby (Glenna) Thurman of the Southport Community; three grandchildren, Lisa Thurman and Glen Thurman of Columbia, Randy (April) Thurman of the Southport Community; three great grandchildren, Amanda Thurman, Cody Thurman, Tanner Thurman all of the Southport Community; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ray Holden, Whit Foster, Clinton Buckner, Floyd Pinkleton, John Curtis Hickman, C.E. Owens, Randy Thurman, Glen Thurman, Cody Thurman and Jack Hindman. Special thanks to the staffs of Heritage Manor and Rosewood Manor.
