Mr. Hollis C. Fair, 89, retired from Tennessee Valley Authority, died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Alterra Sterling House. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, 900 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401. He was a charter member of West End Baptist Church, served as a deacon and member of Berean Sunday School Class. He was a 50-year member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #31. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Legrand Fair, May 28, 2007; his son, Robert H. Fair, October 6, 1982; and his grandson, Robert H. Fair, II, May 26, 1970. Survivors include a sister, Doris Rose of Kentucky; granddaughter, Rebecca (John) Woody of Chattanooga; great-granddaughter, Mariah Woody of Chattanooga; niece, Jane Zupetz; nephews, Jerry Rose, Jimmy Rose, and John Rose. Active pallbearers are Kenneth Knox, Dr. Allyn Lay, Carl Brooks, Don Cooper, Haldor Primm, Johnny Farmer, Cecil Johns, and Joe Ford. Honorary pallbearers include Staff of Alterra Sterling House and the Berean Sunday School Class at West End Baptist Church.
