MR. HOMER E. GRANTMr. Homer E. Grant, 76, retired truck driver for the Tennessee Valley Authority and resident of East 17th Street, died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Veterans Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Highland Park Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the church.. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Sequatchie County, he was the son of the late Sandifer Grant and Etta Sutherland Grant. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. He was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church and Men's Sunday School Class and the Columbia Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Claudine Lockhart Grant of Columbia; two sons, Reed Grant of Murfreesboro and Ronnie (Susan) Grant of Columbia; a sister, Una Grant Shubird of Montgomery, Alabama; three brothers, William Grant of San Diego, California, James Grant of Clearwater, Florida and Ulysses Grant of Omaha, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Dana Grant of Columbia and Kristie Grant of Murfreesboro; three great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers are Thomas Wynn, Roger Workman, Jerry Farris, John Lynn, Sam Beddingfield and Jimmy Fogg. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men's Sunday School Class at Highland Park Baptist Church.
