Hubert Lee Morrow

December 31, 1922 — April 5, 2008

Mr. Hubert Lee Morrow, 85, retired maintenance foreman for Monsanto Company, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Alterra Sterling House. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Jimmy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lawrence County native was the son of the late Henry C. Morrow and Arvie Orton Morrow. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1942 - 1945. He was actively involved in numerous church activities, and was a member of Collegevue Church of Christ and previously served as an elder of Mooresville Pike Church of Christ. After retiring from Monsanto Company, he worked many years at Paper Pulleys and was very skilled in woodworking. He was married August 15, 1945 to the former Rubye Collins. Mrs. Morrow died October 21, 2007. Survivors include three daughters, Veda Jackson of Jackson, Kaye (Joe) Richards of Columbia, and Cindy (Ray) Tinsley of Columbia two sons, Carl (Martha) Morrow of Bardstown, Kentucky and Joe (Laura) Morrow of Spartanburg, South Carolina; fourteen grandchildren, Julie Morrow, April (Jeremy) Elliott, Dale Morrow, Michael (Jennifer) Morrow, Kathy (Jason) Hugg, Karen Morrow, Tara (Josh) McMahan, Gary Jackson, Amanda Jackson, Lee (Heather) Richards, Scott (Lari) Richards, Brady Richards, Jenny (Mikey) Ervin, and Lisa (Michael) Terry; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances (D. W.) Shelton of Summertown, Helen (Allen) Jones of Columbia, Ruth (Loyce) Barnett of Detroit, Michigan, Joyce (L. C. ) Brown of Loretto; brother, Clyde (Mary) Morrow of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Terry Jackson, a son-in-law, Mark Jackson and a sister, Ima Dale. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Monsanto retirees and Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary members.
