Hubert Smith Mr. Hubert Stephen Smith, 58, employee of CSX Transportation, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at his residence on Charleston Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, Alabama. The family will visit with friends from 6-7p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Northport. The Birmingham, Alabama native was the son of Ruby Spurger Smith of Birmingham, AL and the late Hubert Presley Smith. He was a graduate of Minor High School in Bayview, Alabama. He was in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was an active member of Assembly of God Church. Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife of thirty-two years, Reta Yvonne Shelton of Columbia; one brother, Roger Dale (Rebecca) Smith of Birmingham, AL; two sisters, Marie (Claude) Willis and Brenda Smith both of Birmingham; and several nieces and nephews.
