View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Imogene Peery Harris, 89, owner of Harris Foodland and long-time resident of Mooresville Pike, died Friday, November 1, 2019 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend James Sampley officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Born June 16, 1930 in Maury County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson “Jack” Peery and the late Izora Wise Peery. She was a 1948 graduate of Culleoka High School. Mrs. Harris worked at McClellan’s Store, Weather Tamer and retired from the Tennessee Department of Employment Security. In 1989, she joined her husband at Harris Family Foodland which continues to be operated by the family. Mr. and Mrs. Harris were honored in 2005 by the South-Central Tennessee Workforce Development for their years in the workforce. Mrs. Harris was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and served on several committees. She was a lifetime member of 42nd Rainbow Division Veteran’s Foundation. Survivors include children, Melanie Harris (Ken) Jordan of Lewisburg; Ronnie (Becky) Harris of Columbia; Jeff (Dana) Harris of Columbia; grandchildren, Amy Jordan (Michael) Parks; Andrew Jordan; Ben Jordan; Zachary Harris; Morgan Harris; Josh Hann; Jacob Hann; great grandchildren, Wilson Parks; Lola Parks; sister, Judy Anderson; sister-in-law, Carolyn Peery; brother-in-law, W.C. Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Ewell B. Harris; grandson, Brent Jordan; brother, Hugh “Sonny” Peery; and sisters Lequita Rose and Geraldine Johnson. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Jordan, Ben Jordan, Zachary Harris, Josh Hann, Jacob Hann, and Michael Parks. Honorary pallbearers include her caregivers, Debbie Lovely, Brenda Malugin, Linda Cotten, Jennifer Barrier, Leslie Hanson, Nancy Johnson, and Georgia McCaleb. The family would like to express a special thanks to Avalon Compassus, Dr. Cummins Couch, and the staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living where she resided for the past six years.
