Mrs. Irene "Rena" Rieves Brown, 78, died Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at her residence on Paul Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David McGregor officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School. On October 25, 1947 she married Ray Thomas Brown of Columbia who survives her. She was employed by South Central Bell for 30 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Brown was a descendant of the first settlers in Maury County. Survivors in addition to her husband are one daughter, Mrs. Donna K. (Kenneth E.) Anderson of Nashville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Tiffany R. Thurman (Mark) Henderson, Jonathan T. Thurman; and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah (Cecil) Duncan of Columbia and Mrs. Mary Christine (J.T.) Woods of Kingston. She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Brown and nine brothers and sisters, Bonnie Louise Dillehay, William B. Rieves, Thomas Augusta Rieves, Douglas Rieves, Annie Rieves, Katherine Eugenia Woody, Grace Elizabeth White, Mayme Lee Chappell, and Nannie Mai Austin. Pallbearers will be Mark Blackwood, Tommy Duncan, J.A. White, Gary Steimer, Ray Cavender, J.T. Woods, Alex Buhler, Robert Thompson and Leonard Kirby.
