View Video Tribute Irene Johns Adams, 85, homemaker and resident of Culleoka, died Friday, August 27, 2021, at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19, the family encourages facial coverings to be worn but are not required. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 12, 1936, in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late William Ellison Johns and the late Willie Mae Lynn Johns. On September 9, 1958, she married Thomas Adams who preceded her in death. For 27 years, she worked at Heritage Manor in Columbia. Mrs. Adams loved her family, traveling, dancing, Christmas caroling, shopping, gardening and mowing her yard until the age of 80. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Bobby Adams of Culleoka; Diane (Don) McKee of Culleoka; Carol (Steve) Wilson of Culleoka; Brenda (Bob) Haney of Norwalk, Iowa; Vickie (Danny) Marshall of Culleoka; grandchildren, Ashley (Scott) Tarpley of Columbia; Sarah (Elliott) Andrews of Culleoka; Sybil (Donald) Davis of Culleoka; Sylvia McKee of Culleoka; Stephen “Tebo” Wilson of Culleoka; Travis (Nicole) Haney of West Des Moines, Iowa; Shain Weatherford of Spring Hill; Victoria Marshall of Culleoka; great grandchildren, Rivers Tarpley, Kayley Andrews, Caleb Reed, Brody Andrews, Chance Davis, Chase Davis, Cade Voss Brandsetter, Emily Haney, Evelyn Haney, Jaxon Ready, Chloe Parker, Carmen Marshall; twin sister, Lorene Durham of Nashville; sisters, Betty Jo Gilliam of Columbia; Kathleen Gemmell of Columbia; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Corey Marshall; sisters, Frances Douglass, Wilma Harris, Martha Johns; and grandparents, Cora and George Lynn; and Cassie and William Johns. Active pallbearers will be Shain Weatherford, Travis Haney, Elliott Andrews, Scott Tarpley, Donald Davis, Corey Brandsetter, and Jacob Ready. Honorary pallbearer will be Stephen “Tebo” Wilson.
