MRS. IRENE NAPIER Mrs. Irene King Napier, 102, widow of William James Napier, Sr. and longtime resident of Maury County, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at McKendree Manor in Hermitage. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 P.M. with Rev. Thomas Smith and Rev. Fred Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lincoln County native was the daughter of the late Oscar King and Susan Sorrell King. She was a 1918 graduate of Columbia Central High School and was a former member of many civic clubs in Maury County. She was a member and very active in First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, William James Napier, Jr. (Joyce Jenkins) of Brentwood; four grandchildren, William James Napier, III, Betty Napier Robbins, Carolyn Spruill Huber, James Lee Spruill, Sr.; nine great grandchildren, Jennifer Spruill Hart, Brenley Napier, Lydia Robbins, William James Napier, III, Haden Robbins, Allie Robbins, Karen Nicole Huber, John Henry Huber, Jennifer Lynn Huber; three great great grandchildren, Corey Allison Spruill, Ryan Thomas Hart, Rachel Marie Hart; one niece, Landra Speith; and one nephew, Nobal King. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Katherine Napier Spruill and one brother, Nobal E. King. Pallbearers will be William James Napier, III, James Lee Spruill, Sr., John Henry Huber, James Lee Spruill, Nobal King, Emil Speith, and Dr. Thomas Huber. Honorary pallbearers will be William B. Dorris, J. B. Napier, Gerry Lindsey, L. Mack Bryant, Harry Mack Bryant, Stan Napier, Steve Napier, Eugene Layne, Cam Anderson, Billy Stanfill, Judge Jimmy Matthews, Tom Gordon, Will Gordon, Ernest Allen, and Gerald Martin.
