Mr. Israel Contreras Mr. Israel Balboa Contreras, 84, retired GM employee and former resident of Fleming Street, died Friday, January 16, 2004 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in San Carlos, Texas with Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Val-Verde Cemetery in Dona, Texas. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Sweeney, Texas native was the son of the late Romulo Contreras and Antonia Balboa Contreras. He was first married to Maria Rodriguez Contreras who preceded him in death in 1973 and later married Frances Martinez Contreras who preceded him in death January 8, 1997. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons, Meguel Contreras and Romulo Contreras both of Pontiac, Michigan; five daughters, Maria Contreras, Veronica Amador, Ida Amador and Lizabeth Contreras all of Pontiac, Michigan, Guadalupe Contreras of Columbia; one brother, Eleazar Contreras of Houston, Texas; one sister, Rebecca Salinas of Edna, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Israel Contreras and a brother Gilbetho Contreras.
