Ivadell Russell Dalton

Ivadell Russell Dalton, 92, longtime resident of Fourth Avenue in Riverside, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Darryl Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to New Life Church, 6111 Cayce Lane, Columbia, TN 38401 or Rose Hill Cemetery, P. O. Box 1015, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Giles County, Ivy was the daughter of the late Frank Russell and the late Lacy Tatum Russell. On May 11, 1946, she married Thomas Howard Dalton, who preceded her in death May 27, 2013. During their sixty-seven years of marriage, they experienced life hand-in-hand, including operating the family business, E. T. Dalton & Company Furniture Store. They set a great example of what marriage is meant to be and the last thing Howard said to her was that he loved her. Ivy took great joy in her home and her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a charter member of New Life Church. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Dalton Davis and Teresa Dalton (Mark) Sharp; grandchildren, Kimberly Thomas (Vic) Booker, Amy Thomas Williams, Elliott Dalton (Sarah) Andrews, Joshua Sharp; great grandchildren, Kelsey Booker, Riley Tucker, Amberly Tucker, Kaylee Andrews, Caleb Reed, and Brody Andrews. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Maria Russell of California and Ann Russell of Arkansas; and nieces Tami (Ronnie) Ocon of California and Angie Russell (Mike) Smith of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Woodrow "Pete" Russell, Frank Russell, Jr., Marvin Russell and George Russell; and sister, Elizabeth Seagraves. Active pallbearers will be Olumide Aderoba, Scott Pugh, Mike Fockler, Rodger Demastus, Gary Carbaugh, Eddie Dalton, Todd Dalton, and John Bilderback.
