James Gibson Mr. James Oakley "J.O." Gibson, 80, retired employee of Monsanto Chemical Company, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at his residence on Perkins Road in Thompson Station. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Harold D. Smith and Rev. Dave Brown officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. On June 3, 1945 he married Mary Jo McEntyre Gibson who preceded him in death December 25, 1990. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company after forty-one years of service. Mr. Gibson served in the United States military during World War II. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila (Dave) Brown of Murfreesboro, Nicie (Gerry) Bailey of Hendersonville; one son, David (Liz) Gibson of Thompson Station; one sister, Dot (J.C.) Brown of Rogersville, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Matthew Brown both of Murfreesboro, Drew Bailey, Mary Bailey both of Hendersonville, Annie (Brandon) Glenn, April (Eric) Jackson, Allyson Gibson all of Thompson Station; one great-grandson, Tristen Oakley Glenn of Thompson Station; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Chaffin, Russell Cothran, Dr. James B. Kelley, Dr. Mark Robbins and Lori Zulfer.
