View Funeral Webcast J W "Shorty" Richardson, 76, retired plumber and electrician and resident of Pawnee Trail, died Monday, October 2, 2017 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jerry Elder officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the son of the late Walter Franklin Richardson and the late Virgie Moore Richardson. On December 9, 1958, he married Nancy Marie Brown Richardson and their fifty-two year marriage ended with her death on October 25, 2011. Mr. Richardson enjoyed wrestling, NASCAR, and Alabama football. Above all things, he was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of Berea Church of Christ. Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Wisdom, Vicki Elliott, and Tammy (Chris) Thurman, all of Columbia; son, Jeff Richardson of Columbia; sister, Jean Krause of St. Joseph, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Doug (Janice) Brown and Virgil White, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Jason (Robyn) Wright, Jeremy (Jennifer) Stewart, Jennifer Elliott, Jessica Dobrowolski, Jada Wisdom, Lea Richardson, Shayna Keels; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Willa Mae Nunnery and JoAnn Hammox. Pallbearers will be Jeff Richardson, Jason Wright, Jeremy Stewart, Chris Thurman, Joe Bennett, and Brian Hardison.
