Mr. J.A. "Jay" Lynn, Jr., 66, welder, Columbia businessman and resident of McCandless Road, died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30p.m. Sunday at Graymere church of Christ with Wendell Robinson and Rev. Emily Barker officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3 - 8p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The Maury County native was the son of the late J.A. Lynn, Sr. and Hughie Dean Hayes Lynn. He was a 1957 graduate of Central High School and attended Tennessee Tech University and Middle Tennessee State University, majoring in business. He served in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis and Vietnam. While serving in Germany he was accepted into the University of Heidelburg. In 1968 he became a full partner with his father in the Welding and Diesel Shop that his grandfather began in 1935. He was very involved with Maury County Solid Waste & Recycling projects since 1983. Mr. Lynn was very active in the Little League Association and the Maury County AYSO Soccer Association, helping with the fields and equipment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reproduction antique artifacts in metal sculpture in miniature charactures, old fences, gates, etc. He was a member of Graymere church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of thirty-nine years, Mary Ann Brown Lynn of Columbia; two sons, Barrow Jay Lynn, Dallas Richardson Lynn both of Columbia; one uncle, John L. (Helen) Lynn of Columbia; one aunt, Mary (Charlie) Barker of Columbia; niece, Debbie Stephens; two nephews, Barrow (Carla) Brown of Columbia, Tracey Lynn; and several close cousins. Pallbearers will be John Lynn, Mike Sweeney, Tracy Lynn, Dr. James B. Kelley, Jim Bass, Barrow Brown, Bob Thompson, Dr. James M. Fitts, Dr. Cyler Dunbar, Kyle Dunbar, David Brown, Richard Brown, Stewart Parker, Danny Vaughn and Clifford Lynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Bobb, Jake Marbet and Robin Stanfill.
