Mr. Jack T. Journey, 89, retired claims representative for the Tennessee Department of Employment Security and long-time resident of Trotwood Avenue, died Friday, May 27, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Mr. Ron Eversole officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1015, Columbia, 38401 or Central Christian Church Building Fund, 2634 Pulaski Highway, Columbia, 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Fred Journey and Maysel Park Journey. He was a graduate of Vanderbilit University and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Journey was a long-time member of Central Christian Church, Columbia Elks Club, Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. His wife, Ann Garner Journey, died February 4, 1993. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Freda Journey Kimbrough. He is survived by a niece, Susan Kimm of Chattanooga and a nephew, Stephen Jenkins of Cleveland. Men of the Central Christian Church will serve as pallbearers.
