View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast James Arthur Flowers, 91, resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Rush officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at a later date in Albany City Cemetery in Albany, Kentucky. Born May 17, 1931 in Clinton County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Delmer Flowers and the late Jimmie Huddleston Flowers. On August 31, 1951, he joined the United States Air Force until January 27, 1954. For 30 years, he worked for GMAC and retired after 14 years as a Sales Supervisor for General Motors. An avid antique Buick car man, known as “Gentleman Jim”, he was one of the founders of the Music City Buick Club. Mr. Flowers was a member of The Church at West Franklin and the Hiram Masonic Lodge #7. Survivors include his wife, whom he married November 28, 1992, Linda Mitchell Flowers of Columbia; step-children, Carrie (Ken) Lanyon of Franklin; Beth (Nathan) Hammons of Ethridge; George West of Dickson; grandsons, Spencer, Sam Franklin, Tucker, Bo, Silas; brothers, Leon (Bonnie) Flowers of Franklin; Charles Flowers of Johnson City; nephews, David (Melodie) Flowers, Mark Mullinix; and great nephew, Shea Flowers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Long Flowers; and sisters, Dorothy Mullinix, Mary Flowers. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
