James Richard Beckert, 84, died Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his residence on McLemore Road in Franklin.A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 1:30 P.M. at Rock Spring Cemetery with Pastor Danny Wise officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. 931-388-4711.Born March 8, 1933 in Los Angeles, California, he was the son the of the late Charles Henry Beckert and the late Mary Edyth Betty Beckert. For 35 years, he worked for Southern California Edison Company as an engineer. He had his pilot's license, was a model train enthusiast, and was member of the Model Train Club. Survivors include his wife, whom he married July 4, 1953, Shirley Ann Reaves Beckert; daughters, Janine Marie (Ronald Freedman) Linden; Debra Louise Malm; Sheralyn Gwen (Phillip) Tinsley; foster daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Edward) Nassour; grandchildren, Krista Renee Hoffman; Bradley Edward (Melissa) Malm; Kelley Christine (Jason) Pellegrin; great grandchildren, Caden Bradley Malm; Hudson James Malm; Avery Nicole Malm; Kira Renee Hoffman; Kaiya Christine Hoffman; sister, Charlotte (Robert) Brothwell; brother, Thomas Beckert; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
