James Lentz Black

James Lentz Black, 72, former security guard and resident of Sunset Lane, died Monday, July 25, 2016, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ezell Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Ulna Lentz Black and the late Mary Frances Tomlinson Black. He was a former employee of Shamrock Billiards and Guardsmark. His favorite pastimes include fishing with his grandson and playing pool. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Rachel Dianne Hamilton Black of Columbia; daughter, Melanie Diane (Terry) Riley of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Steven Ryan (Rachel) McDonald and Ashley Diane (Jesse) Escue; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Dwayne Black, and sister, Barbara Jean Prince. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
