View Funeral WebcastJames "Jimmy" Bryant, 78, resident of Oakwood Drive, died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at NHC Maury Regional.Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow Haynes Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Raymond Bryant and Pauline Byrum Bryant. After graduating from Columbia Central High School in 1957, he served in the United States Marine Corps until 1959. He began his career with Monsanto Chemical Company in Columbia and then was later transferred to Trenton, Michigan where he retired in 1993. After his retirement, he enjoyed working on his family farm where he was born and loved watching the sunrise and sunset. Mr. Bryant was a member of West Seventh Street Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife, whom he married May 12, 2007, Anne Fox Bryant of Columbia; daughter, Tricia (Clem) Jones of Florence, KY; sons, James Allen (Susan) Bryant of Fayetteville, TN; Michael (Tracy) Bryant of Bradford, TN; grandchildren, Craig (Kymberly) Richardson, Alan Bryant, Alana Bryant, Katie Bryant, Lydia Bryant; step-son, Ronnie (Paula) Rummage; step-grandchildren, Sarah (Seth) Neller; Ryan (Claire) Rummage; and step-sister, Barbara McCall of Nashville.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Parker; and his aunt, Aliene Bryant, who raised him after his mother's death when he was just a year old. Active pallbearers will be Paul Bryant, Paul Thrasher, Larry Dooley, Richie Gilliam, Alan Bryant, Craig Richardson, Bill Richardson, and Ricky Savage. Honorary pallbearers include Don Westmoreland, Dr. Taylor Rayburn, Beverly Rayburn, Rusty Workman, Roy Martin, Bob Maples, Dr. Aaron Milstone, and retired employees of Monsanto Chemical Company.
