Mr. James Harris Carrigan, Jr., 50, employee of Phillip-Morris USA and resident of Cumberland, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan and Mike Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 - 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home. He was a 1976 graduate of Columbia Military Academy and attended Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. He was a former employee of Digital Equipment Corp. and for the last ten years, he was employed by Phillip Morris USA as a Technical Architect in Information Systems. He owned Cumberland Mill Works in Cumberland, Virginia. Mr. Carrigan was a certified Aerotow Instructor, a certified hang glide instructor and a certified scuba diver. He was an avid guitarist, photographer, woodworker and ham operator. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Pam (Turner) Jernigan of Nashville; one great uncle, J. H. "Red" Morgan of Columbia; aunt, Sara West Carrigan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; cousins, Lisa (Darrell) Russell of Alexandria, Louisiana; Lee Anne Carrigan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Letitia (Robert) Wood of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Blake Hendrickson and Stephen Hendrickson, both of Nashville; dear friends, Joe Campbell & Sue Henshaw and Richard Upshur & Mary Upshur, all of Richmond, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his infant twin brother, John Taylor Carrigan; grandparents, Robert Taylor Carrigan & Allie Kate Carrigan and John Herman McAnally & Ada Louise McAnally, aunt and uncle, Sarah McAnally Hendrickson & Jack Hendrickson, and uncle, Bill Carrigan. Pallbearers will be Turner Jernigan, Blake Hendrickson, Stephen Hendrickson, Drew Hendrickson, Alex Hendrickson, Jackson Hendrickson, Darrell Russell, Joe Campbell, and Vance Hendrickson.
