James Davis Chapman, 82, retired employee of Marshall Manufacturing and resident of Glenn Avenue, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Marshall Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Parkview Baptist Church in Lewisburg. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at London Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at Parkview Baptist Church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors in Columbia are assisting the family with arrangements. The family suggests memorials to Parkview Baptist Church, 1380 West Ellington Parkway, Lewisburg, TN 37091 or American Cancer Society c/o Suzanne Boatright, 2382 Lynnville Highway, Cornersville, TN 37047. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Thomas H. Chapman and Katie Lee Davis Chapman. On December 26, 1952 he married Elaine Wright Chapman who preceded him in death on April 14, 1986. On November 26, 1986 he married Elizabeth Fishburn Rainey Chapman who survives. Mr. Chapman was stationed at the Panama Canal in the U. S. Army. After his retirement from Marshall Manufacturing, he was an auto transporter for Roberts Chevrolet and Lyons Chevrolet for several years. He was currently serving on the Board of Directors for Lewisburg Gas Department. He was a current deacon and member of Parkview Baptist Church. Mr. Chapman was a very devoted Christian and family man. His favorite pastimes include traveling and reading his Bible. He was involved in ministry at Merihill Nursing Home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Cheri Chapman (Steve) Young of Chapel Hill; Judy Chapman Musgrave of Lewisburg; Eileen Rainey (Craig) Kratzberg of Canyon Country, California; Carolyn Rainey (Jimmy) Magnusson of Ardmore, Alabama; fourteen grandchildren, Frank Musgrave V, Davis Musgrave, T. J. Young, Andy Young, Steve Young, Jon Young, Jason Young, Tammi Jenkins, Joan West, Layne Worsham, Shane Bradford, Barry Worsham, Chance Kratzberg, and Carson Kratzberg; eleven great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Chapman of Lewisburg; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Beard; brother, Wayne Chapman; son-in-law, Frank Clair Musgrave IV; granddaughter, Katie Marie Musgrave; and great grandson, Corey Marshall. Active pallbearers will be Wade Prosser, Buddy Whaley, Ron Greer, Chuck McCormick, Rollie Beard, and Lloyd Cross, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will include Deacons of Parkview Baptist Church and employees and Board Members of Lewisburg Gas Department.
