James Latta Cranford, 104, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his residence on Shawnee Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Daimwood officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Fred P. Cranford and Janie Polk Allen Cranford. For many years he owned and operated Cranford Lumber Company where he devoted his life. Mr. Cranford was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ.Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Doris Ladd Cranford of Columbia; sons, Jim Cranford of Columbia, and Bob Cranford of Tyler, Texas; step-sons, Charles Murphy and Tom Murphy both of Columbia; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Holman Hickman; brother, William O. Cranford; and granddaughter, Cindy Martin. Active pallbearers will be Harrison Murphy, Charles Murphy, Jim Voss, Richard Paulk, Jim Goosby, Scott Cranford, and Billy Truelove. Honorary pallbearers include members of Ephesus Church of Christ, Mike Cranford, Mark Cranford, Holden Murphy, Kendell Burroughs, Kathy Burns, and Tom Murphy.
