Mr. JAMES DAVIDSON Mr. James Melvin Davidson, 71, construction worker and resident of West 12th Street, died Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. Wednesday at Center Point Baptist Church with Rev. Argine Hughes and Rev. J.D. Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Center Point Baptist Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The Athens, Alabama native was the son of the late George Davidson and Vernell Hasting Davidson. On March 20, 1959 he married Ann Marie Brooks Davidson of Columbia who survives him. He was a gospel music promoter and sang with gospel music quartets. Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Glenn Davidson of Columbia; one sister, Ellen (Opal) Vanderford of Columbia; one brother, Wilburn Davidson of Columbia; and four grandchildren, Eric Davidson, Samantha Davidson, Lance Davidson and Tyler Davidson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elvin Davidson and two sisters, Virginia Pinkard and Bertha Bassham. Pallbearers will be Greg Norman, Eric Davidson, Johnny Morton, Jimmy Callahan, Charles Baker and Ray Allman.
