James Dillard Irwin, Jr., 74, the loving husband of Reatha Irwin, an Electrician and HVAC specialist for Morgan Brothers Electric and resident of Santa Fe, died Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran and Eric Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Fly Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born September 26, 1949, in Maury County, he was the son of the late James Dillard Irwin, Sr. and the late Juanita Hines Irwin. Mr. Irwin loved being outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and go camping and boating with his family. He was also a skilled woodworker who loved working in his shop at home. Mr. Irwin proudly served in the United States Army for 4 years, including a tour in Vietnam and served in the National Guard for several years afterwards. He was of Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married September 21, 1998, Reatha Faulkner Irwin of Santa Fe; step-sons, Anthony (Miranda) Gordon of Columbia; Chris (Stacy) Gordon of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Kate Gordon of Spring Hill; Wesley Gordon of Columbia; Carter Gordon of Spring Hill; and special friends, Eric Roberts and Alan Faulkner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, James Derrick Irwin; and sister, Juana McKinney.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Roberts, Alan Faulkner, James Faulkner, Jerry Faulkner, Scotty Faulkner, and Justin Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers include his grandchildren.
