James Doyle Trigg, 74, retired Teacher for Giles County School System and resident of Dodson Gap Road, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in Alabama. Born July 20, 1945 in Giles County, he was the son of the late James Knox Trigg, III and the late Billie Jean Burgess Trigg Locke. He earned his Master’s degree in History and Social Studies from Middle Tennessee State University. He began his 35-year teaching career in 1972 and taught at Jones High School and Richland High School. He was an avid reader, world traveler and enjoyed history and politics. Mr. Trigg was a member of Lynnville First Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and taught Sunday School. Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Trigg of Lynnville, whom he married September 7, 1968,; son, James “Jimmy” K. (Becki McLeod) Trigg, Sr. of Murfreesboro; daughter, Rachel Trigg (Brian) Allred of Culleoka; grandchildren, Lilly Mae Allred, Lincoln Knox Allred, James “Jack” Kennedy Trigg, Jr.; siblings, James Knox (Pat) Trigg, IV, Gayle (Jack) Willoughby, Lee Ann (Scott) Hagevold, Jeanne Marie (Allen) Woody, Gilbert (Pamela) Locke, John Clark Locke, and Michael Locke; aunt, Betty Trigg Murphy; and several nieces, nephews, and close relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Sara Love Trigg; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fannie Belle and Bill Kennedy. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Blake Hawthorne and Elder Scott Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Lynnville First Presbyterian Church, 249 Church Street, P.O.
